Today in NASCAR news:

  • Two Cup races change race length. The first night race of the season, held at Phoenix International Raceway on April 10, has added an additional 63 laps to the race. The race will now have 375 laps and will become the Subway Fresh Fit 600. In contrast, the Oct. 10 race to be held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., will be reduced from 250 laps to 200 laps. The race is to be called the Pepsi Max 400 as opposed to the Pepsi 500. At this time, no changes are expected for the fall Phoenix race or spring Fontana race.

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Joe Gibbs Racing to be featured in new television special. SPEED and IMG Sports Media plan a four one-hour special featuring behind-the-scenes of JGR as they prepare for the Daytona 500 beginning on Jan. 24, possibly on the SPEED channel. The special will give fans an inside look as to what it takes to get ready for the biggest race of the year.
  • Jeff Gordon to be featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Gordon will be featured as the celebrity builder on an upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The makeover took place in Horry County, S.C.
  • Hunt Brothers Pizza moving to Elliott Sadler’s car. Read the rest of this entry »

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Wally Rogers remaining as Elliott Sadler’s crew chief. Despite speculation that Rogers would not return as Sadler’s crew chief of the No. 19 Ford (formerly Dodge), it appears that he will remain. Rogers became Sadler’s crew chief during the last half of the 2009 season.
