Today in NASCAR news:

  • Joe Gibbs Racing to be featured in new television special. SPEED and IMG Sports Media plan a four one-hour special featuring behind-the-scenes of JGR as they prepare for the Daytona 500 beginning on Jan. 24, possibly on the SPEED channel. The special will give fans an inside look as to what it takes to get ready for the biggest race of the year.
  • Jeff Gordon to be featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Gordon will be featured as the celebrity builder on an upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The makeover took place in Horry County, S.C.
  • Hunt Brothers Pizza moving to Elliott Sadler’s car. Read the rest of this entry »

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Greg Biffle joins Baker Curb Racing in the Nationwide series. BCR announced that Biffle will be driving the No. 27 Ford in the Nationwide series for a yet decided amount of races. Red Man Moist Snuff will be the primary sponsor. Biffle and BCR will make their 2010 debut at Daytona in February.

The New Season Is Full Of Change

Field Set For The Chase

As predicted the weather played havoc with this past weekend’s race activities. Both Nationwide and Sprint Cup series teams and drivers were able to participate in their one and only practice session on Friday. However, Friday qualifying sessions were canceled and both races were postponed until Sunday with the Cup race set to run first.

The starting lineup for both races were set according to owner points, which meant Joey Logano was not able to make his Cup debut in the 02 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. It does look like he will be able to attempt to qualify for this weekend’s race in Loudon, N.H. Read the rest of this entry »

Sprint Back From A Break

An off weekend means, not only was I bored, but I have a chance to review the first five races of the season.

I have been very pleased with the racing, so far. I think this new car, respectfully the Car of Today (no longer should it be called the Car of Tomorrow), is worth the aggravation it brought last year. The racing has improved, maybe that isn’t just due to the new car, but nonetheless it has been enjoyable to watch.

Woo-Hoo! NASCAR Is Back!

NASCAR’s New Year’s Eve is here — with the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway!

It seems like the hiatus (that began nearly three months ago) went by fast and slow all at once. Of course, there were the three different testing sessions (Daytona, Las Vegas, and California) to help the time go by and feed our racing “addiction,” but in all honesty it really wasn’t enough. We really didn’t get to see any racing except for the few programs on ESPN2 and Speed that showed clips and highlights of the sessions. Real racing — as short as it may be Saturday night — is still more then enough to hold us over until the Gatorade Duels and the highly anticipated Daytona 500 next week. Don’t you agree?
