Today in NASCAR news:

  • Kellogg’s partners with Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards. Kellogg’s will be the primary sponsor of Carl Edwards’ No. 99 Ford for two races this season and associate sponsor for the remaining races. Kellogg’s is also ending their 16-year stint with Hendrick Motorsports who was the primary sponsor for Mark Martin’s No. 5 Chevrolet last season. Aflac is the primary sponsor of the No. 99.

  • Elliott Sadler will join Kevin Harvick in the Camping World Truck Series. Sadler and Harvick will split time in Kevin Harvick Inc.’s No. 2 Chevrolet for 15 of the 25 races. Sadler, who last drove in the truck series in 2003, will make his debut in the KHI Chevrolet at Daytona. The driver for the remaining 10 races has yet to be announced.
  • Ken Schrader will race the Budweiser Shoot out in Red Bull Racing’s No. 82 Toyota. Read the rest of this entry »

Defeated, Yet A Winner

I love entering contests. I always have and more than likely always will.

With the age of social networking, it is much easier to enter contests, particularly through the current most popular social networking application, Twitter. With a 140 characters or less tweet (message), a public relations representative, publicist or agent for a celebrity can ask a simple question for their followers to reply with the answers. Within a matter of minutes, followers know if they’ve won the current contest promotion.

I will admit, I have participated in a few of these contests, particularly ones pertaining to Kasey Kahne. I will also admit that on at least two occasions I have I been one of the lucky ones to win the particular contest. The most recent one was just the other day, Tuesday to be exact. The site was originally started by Penni when she worked for her local newspaper and wrote a NASCAR column.

Goodbye ‘Busch’ Series?

It looks as if the “Busch” series may have come to an abrupt end Sunday at Martinsville Speedway as Jimmie Johnson won his first race of the season. Neither Busch brother was a factor for the win. Kyle could have been if he hadn’t been the cause of an early race caution after getting into Scott Speed sending them both spinning. And Kurt just wasn’t there all day. He did managed to finish on the lead lap in 18th.

As for the rest of the race, well, it looked as if Denny Hamlin was going to win. He took the lead early on lap 156 and pretty much never looked back. That was until Jimmie Johnson decided he wanted the lead and the win. Read the rest of this entry »
