Welcome to the new and improved Pit Report Online!

The site was originally started by Penni when she worked for her local newspaper and wrote a NASCAR column.

Goodbye ‘Busch’ Series?

It looks as if the “Busch” series may have come to an abrupt end Sunday at Martinsville Speedway as Jimmie Johnson won his first race of the season. Neither Busch brother was a factor for the win. Kyle could have been if he hadn’t been the cause of an early race caution after getting into Scott Speed sending them both spinning. And Kurt just wasn’t there all day. He did managed to finish on the lead lap in 18th.

As for the rest of the race, well, it looked as if Denny Hamlin was going to win. He took the lead early on lap 156 and pretty much never looked back. That was until Jimmie Johnson decided he wanted the lead and the win. Read the rest of this entry »

Jimmie Johnson Is One Race Away From Making History

If you’re living under a rock or refusing to accept reality than you don’t know or have chosen not to acknowledge that Jimmie Johnson is more than likely going to win the Sprint Cup championship for the third straight season.

Granted there is a 141-point difference between Johnson and Carl Edwards, and this is NASCAR. So, anything’s possible, but luck is on Johnson’s side.

There are obviously several scenarios that could come into play this coming weekend for Johnson (or Edwards). The obvious one could be Johnson having a major problem and getting a DNF (did not finish) skyrocketing Edwards to the top of the points standings with a win. Unfortunately, that scenario isn’t the most logical or most likely. Read the rest of this entry »
