Today in NASCAR news:

  • Elliott Sadler will join Kevin Harvick in the Camping World Truck Series. Sadler and Harvick will split time in Kevin Harvick Inc.’s No. 2 Chevrolet for 15 of the 25 races. Sadler, who last drove in the truck series in 2003, will make his debut in the KHI Chevrolet at Daytona. The driver for the remaining 10 races has yet to be announced.
  • Ken Schrader will race the Budweiser Shoot out in Red Bull Racing’s No. 82 Toyota. Last month, NASCAR and Budweiser announced yet another revision to the Shootout roster, the third revision in three years, allowing all past race winners of a Daytona race along with the 12 Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers, and past series champions to be added to this years field. Schrader, who hasn’t raced in the Cup series in a few years, was an eligible driver, according to the new format. He won the Shootout back-to-back in 1989-1990. Since he does not have a full-time ride and RBR’s Scott Speed is not eligible, both Schrader and RBR thought the pairing was appropriate. The Budweiser Shootout will air on SPEED Feb. 6.
  • Reed Sorenson will pilot Braun Racing’s No. 32 Toyota part-time alongside Brian Vickers in the Nationwide Series. Sorenson, who drove for Richard Petty Motorsports in 2009 before being let go due to the RPM and Yates Racing merger , will return to the Nationwide series. Sorenson will be in the No. 32 for 23 races, while Vickers will driver for 10, leaving two races (Montreal and the newly added Road America) for a yet to be determined driver. Sorenson will make his return at Bristol Motor Speedway in March.
