Today in NASCAR news:
- Joe Gibbs Racing to be featured in new television special. SPEED and IMG Sports Media plan a four one-hour special featuring behind-the-scenes of JGR as they prepare for the Daytona 500 beginning on Jan. 24, possibly on the SPEED channel. The special will give fans an inside look as to what it takes to get ready for the biggest race of the year.
- Jeff Gordon to be featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Gordon will be featured as the celebrity builder on an upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The makeover took place in Horry County, S.C.
- Hunt Brothers Pizza moving to Elliott Sadler’s car. Hunt Brothers Pizza is moving from the No. 44 Richard Petty Motorsports Dodge to Sadler’s No. 19 Ford. They will be the primary sponsor for six races.
- Michael McDowell gets ride for 2010. McDowell, who raced for several Nationwide teams in 2009 and was able to finish 13th in points standings, has joined MacDonald Motorsports. He will drive the No. 81 Dodge. He will also reunite with former ARCA crew chief Patrick Donahoe.
- Trip Bruce joins Stringer Motorsports. Bruce, who recently resigned from Rusty Wallace Racing, will return to the Camping World Truck series as crew chief of Stringer Motorsports’ No. 90 with driver new Brad Sweet. Sweet currently drives in the USAC series for Kasey Kahne Racing. Stringer Motorsports is expected to race in 8 truck events for 2010.
- Nelson Piquet Jr. to NASCAR? Ex-Formula One driver Nelson Piquet Jr. said he is headed to NASCAR, as to what team, he did not mention. (per Jayski)
