Today in NASCAR news:

  • Braun Racing announces 2010 Cup starts. Braun Racing has announced that they plan to enter five Sprint Cup events (Daytona 500, March Atlanta, Chicago, Indianopolis and Oct. Charlotte races) with Reed Sorenson behind the wheel of the No. 32 Dollar General Toyota.
  • Michael Waltrip Racing and NASCAR announce licensing partnership. NASCAR and MWR announced Wednesday, Jan. 13, that they have formed a licensing partnership in which NASCAR will become the sole licensing representative. NASCAR’s licensing business will attempt to grown and provide retailers with new and more innovative MWR merchandise, utilizing different possible venues.
  • BB&T continues sponsorship with Richard Childress Racing. Read the rest of this entry »

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Two Cup races change race length. The first night race of the season, held at Phoenix International Raceway on April 10, has added an additional 63 laps to the race. The race will now have 375 laps and will become the Subway Fresh Fit 600. In contrast, the Oct. 10 race to be held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., will be reduced from 250 laps to 200 laps. The race is to be called the Pepsi Max 400 as opposed to the Pepsi 500. At this time, no changes are expected for the fall Phoenix race or spring Fontana race.

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Joe Gibbs Racing to be featured in new television special. SPEED and IMG Sports Media plan a four one-hour special featuring behind-the-scenes of JGR as they prepare for the Daytona 500 beginning on Jan. 24, possibly on the SPEED channel. The special will give fans an inside look as to what it takes to get ready for the biggest race of the year.
  • Jeff Gordon to be featured on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Gordon will be featured as the celebrity builder on an upcoming episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The makeover took place in Horry County, S.C.
  • Hunt Brothers Pizza moving to Elliott Sadler’s car. Read the rest of this entry »

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Wally Rogers remaining as Elliott Sadler’s crew chief. Despite speculation that Rogers would not return as Sadler’s crew chief of the No. 19 Ford (formerly Dodge), it appears that he will remain. Rogers became Sadler’s crew chief during the last half of the 2009 season.

Today in NASCAR news:

  • NASCAR to change COT? NASCAR is set to make an announcement Jan. 21 about possible changes to the COT (Car of Tomorrow/Today) and rule changes. It is expected that the COT announcement will be about the rear wing and the possiblity of replacing it with a rear spoiler, similar to the one used in the Nationwide series. The change, if official, is likely to appear by Bristol or Martinsville in March. Other changes have also been mentioned for the COT. Possible rule changes pertain to the yellow lines at superspeedways and “no bumping zones,” just to a name a few.
  • Aric Almirola to drive for Phoenix Racing. Almirola said he is set to run the full season with Phoenix Racing in the No. 09 Chevrolet in the Sprint Cup series. He is also set to run a limited amount of races for Billy Ballew Motorsports in the Camping World truck series. Plans have not been finalized.

Today in NASCAR news:

  • Greg Biffle joins Baker Curb Racing in the Nationwide series. BCR announced that Biffle will be driving the No. 27 Ford in the Nationwide series for a yet decided amount of races. Red Man Moist Snuff will be the primary sponsor. Biffle and BCR will make their 2010 debut at Daytona in February.
